Jamestown Reformed Church is a proud member of the Alliance of Reformed Churches.

  • The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the Holy Word of God, truth without error, clear and powerful in its message, sufficient for all of our needs, and the final authority for faith and life. (Psalm 119:105; Prov. 20:5; Matt. 4:4 ; Mark 13:31; John 20:31; Acts 20:32; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

  • Triune God

We believe in the triune God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; Who is holy, loving, good, wise, and almighty; Who has created all things by His Word out of nothing; Who sustains, provides for, and rules all things; Who is our only Redeemer and will judge all people. (Gen. 1:1, 26-27; Deut. 10:14; Deut. 32:4; 1 Kings 8:27; Psalm 90:2; Daniel 4:34-35; Matt. 28:19; John 1:1-3; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 Tim. 1:17; 1 John 4:8; Rev. 4:8; Rev. 22:13)

  • Jesus Christ

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, Who added full humanity to His perfect deity, obeyed God perfectly, died for our sins on the cross, rose again to defeat Satan and returned to heaven to pour out the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and to intercede for His people. (John 1:14; Romans 1:3-4; 1 Tim. 2:5; Titus 2:13; Matt. 1:18-25; Hebrews 4:14-15; 1 Cor. 15:1-8; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 7:25; Col. 1:18)

  • Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who has been sent to complete and perfect in us all of the works that Jesus did for us. He convicts of sin, regenerates us, sanctifies us, gifts us for ministry, and assures us of our salvation. (John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13; I Cor. 2:12; 1 Cor. 3:16; 1 Cor. 6:19; II Cor. 3:17; Galatians 5:22-26)

  • Salvation

We believe that the triune God has provided a great salvation for those who repent of their sins and trust Christ and His finished work; that He calls, regenerates, justifies, forgives, adopts, sanctifies, keeps, and will glorify them. (Eph. 2:8; Galatians 2:16; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet 3:18; Romans 3:21-26; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8; Prov. 28:13; 1 John 1:9; Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30; Romans 5:9; Romans 8:1; 1 Thess. 5:9)

  • Humanity

We believe that God created men and women in His image and likeness for fellowship with Himself and to carry out the creation mandates. Through the Fall and temptation by Satan, man rebelled against God, incurring physical, spiritual, and eternal death, which is separation from God. As a consequence, we are cursed by inward depravity and live under the dominion of sin. Through this, humanity remains in hostility and separation from God, lost and without hope apart from salvation in the Messiah, Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 3:6-8;Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Isaiah 59:1-2; Col. 3:10; Romans 5:12-21; Romans 3:19-20; Romans 3:23; Eph. 2:1-3)

  • Marriage and Children

We believe that God ordained marriage at the moment of creation as the sacred union of one man and one woman. All sexual relations must therefore be reserved for that union. Christian marriage is a representation of Christ’s relationship to His church. We also believe that children are a blessing from the Lord and that all human life is sacred and worthy of protection from the moment of conception.

    (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:24; Psalm 127-128; 139:13-16; Matthew 19:1-10; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Ephesians 5:22-33; Hebrew 13:4)

  • Final Days

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the bodily resurrection and final judgement of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. (Acts 1:9-11; Mark 14:62; John 14:3; Revelation 1:7; Matt. 16:27; 1 Peter 4:5; Matthew 25:31-56; Revelation 20:11-15; 1 Cor. 15:20-28; Revelation 21:1-5)
